| Amazon (AMZN) Introduces New Web Services (AWS) Features |
Swami Sivasubramanian, vice president of data, analytics, and machine learning services at AWS, provided insights on many new product offerings during the AWS Summit in San Francisco on April 21, 2022. He detailed developments in a variety of service areas, including databases, machine learning, the Internet of Things (IoT), and application development.
- On April 21, 2022, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced six important upgrades.
- Two boost AWS consumers' freedom while decreasing their expenses.
- One facilitates the creation of digital twins.
- One enables the development of applications with minimum code.
- Machine learning may be used to extract text, handwriting, or data from documents and photographs.
- One enables the production and distribution of interactive analytics to thousands of end-users.
The Importance of Innovation
In his speech, Sivasubramanian highlighted analyst estimates that 5 to 15% of information technology (IT) spending has gone to the cloud, with many more workloads expected to follow. He also mentioned that AWS introduced 3,084 services and important features in 2021 alone. In this regard, he stated, "Because the issues for a client today are frequently different from those of tomorrow, it is all the more vital to choose the cloud provider who will be the finest technological partner now and in the future."
Decision Making Based on Data
According to Sivasubramanian, firms that use a data-driven approach to decision-making expand by more than 30% every year. However, according to an Accenture survey, 68 percent of businesses are unable to obtain concrete and useful advantages from their data.
He stated that a contemporary data strategy must be adaptable and versatile in order to serve multiple use cases and support future developments. It must also include governance problems, such as ensuring that the proper individuals have timely and cost-effective access to the relevant data.
Finally, Sivasubramanian stated that the three pillars of a typical contemporary data strategy are modernization, unity, and innovation. Modernization, in his opinion, begins with cloud migration. The following stage is to integrate the data storage and access control infrastructure. The third stage is to put the data to use by applying analytics and machine learning to it.
AWS's New Product Offerings
- At the conference, six new AWS product offerings were unveiled. They are as follows:
- Amazon Aurora Serverless v2 provides a more cost-effective solution for meeting peak demand.
- Amazon SageMaker Serverless is a less expensive solution to run applications that get intermittent or unexpected traffic.
- AWS IoT TwinMaker is intended to simplify the creation of digital twins of real-world systems such as buildings, factories, industrial equipment, and production lines.
- AWS Amplify Studio allows developers to use minimum code to create completely customized web apps on AWS.
- Textract by Amazon is a machine learning service that extracts text, handwriting, and data from any document or image.
- The Amazon QuickSight Embedded Analytics Partner Program is intended to assist clients in creating and distributing interactive analytics to thousands of end-users.
CirrusHQ's head of architecture, John Walker, stated that AWS Amplify Studio enables his company to "create rapid application prototypes, test our hypotheses, iterate on the design, and quickly build and deploy web and mobile applications for our customers... with even greater efficiency, while empowering our developers to quickly create pixel-perfect UIs [user interfaces]... without the need for deep design expertise... in a fraction of the time."
